Kakimori Pen rest - Urushi
Kakimori Pen rest - Urushi
The Japanese cherry pen rest is lacquered using the fuki-urushi (“wiped urushi”) technique, whereby the wood is impregnated with urushi lacquer to highlight the beauty of the grain.
A pen rest that enhances the moments between writing. Designed to hold any pen without the need for precise placement, it blends effortlessly into your desk space with a subtle but assured presence.
Material Features:
The simple matte lacquer complements any desk space and pairs well with our Japanese cherry and aluminium nib holders. Enjoy your own combination.
Fuki-urushi is a traditional technique that is also widely used in historic architecture. Our pen rest and nib holder are ink-dyed before being lacquered to highlight both the beauty of the woodgrain and the lacquer itself.
Use and Care:
- The presence of glossy surface speckles are due to a build-up of urushi lacquer in the wood fibres and not to be considered a fault. Imperfections are part of the charm of natural wood and we hope you’ll enjoy the uniqueness.
- To prevent distortion and discolouration, avoid soaking in water, sudden temperature changes, extreme heat or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Due to the nature of the material and treatment, grain and colour will vary between pieces.
- If marked with ink, wipe clean with a soft cloth.
